Starting at 17.59 on 23rd September 2010, Guinness will once again, celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Arthur Guinness—the founder of the world most famous stout.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Arthur Guinness Day 2010 will see a series of remarkable celebrations and “live” music events taking place around the world, including Saint Lucia.
Established in 2009, during the 250 year anniversary of Guinness, Arthur Guinness Day is marked by a series of promotional events and celebrations taking place around the world, to celebrate the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness and the brewing tradition which he brought to the world.
The highlight of the “Day “ itself will see people around the world raise a Guinness at 17.59 local time from 23rd September in a truly remarkable global toast which kick starts the celebrations.
This year, here in Saint Lucia, Arthur Guinness Day is being activated with local concerts across the island aptly named ‘Greatness in Concert’.
According to Guinness brand manager for Saint Lucia, Sylvester Henry, the company has decided to create an “Under the Crown promotion” leading up to Arthur Guinness Day which starts here on Monday August 23, 2010. “This promotion will support the Greatness in Concert series by giving Guinness consumers the chance to win some wonderful prizes with a grand prize of a VIP trip to the renowned Greatness in Concert in Jamaica featuring a number of international acts,” Henry says. This event will take place on October 30th 2010.
For the under the crown promotion there will be special branded bottle crowns which will contain unique codes underneath them. The promotion will be in the form of “Text to win” where Guinness consumers are invited to look under the crowns and text a given code to 4781 from their Digicel or LIME mobile phones for their chance to win prizes and be entered in the Grand Draw. Prizes will include mobile credit, cell phones, Guinness 6 packs and Guinness merchandise as well as cash.
Guinness will also be embarking on a number of island-wide promotions which will culminate on September 23 with “live” events at a number of locations to be revealed soon. On that day Guinness Saint Lucia will join millions across the globe in a toast in honour of the man, the legend and the most famous brew itself, Guinness.
So wherever you are, be sure to raise a glass of the black stuff to the man who created it—and help make Arthur Guinness Day 2010 another day to remember!
