Monday February 22,

Tempers flared at the Beyonce I AM concert on Thursday as hundreds of patrons in the general and VIP sections were barely able to get a glimpse of the superstar’s performance.

Those in the general section of the Queen’s Park Savannah, for which they paid $500 complained that they could not even see the huge screens that were set up close to the stage as the screens were too low. “Raise the screens, raise the screens,” the crowd shouted. During Machel Montano’s performance, which started at 6 pm, the screens went blank several times, causing further uproar in the crowd. “If Digicel had put on this show we would never have to go through this,” one patron shouted. From the general section, which was located furthest from the stage, Machel and the HD family appeared like “ants.”

So angry were some of the spectators that they demanded a refund of their money, while others called on TSTT to give them free credit on their mobile phones instead of the refund. Those in the VIP section had similar complaints. They were located just ahead of the general section. “We can’t see the stage and we could barely see the screens...this was a waste of my money,” a man with an American accent said. “I should have paid the extra $600 just to get a better view,” another shouted. Their frustration was quelled when Beyonce took to the stage. Although not able to see her, patrons in the general section danced and waved their hands to the sound of her voice. “Beyonce saved the day,” one said.
