Government had to "unravel the financial mess" the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT) found itself in to accelerate payments to local contractors, Finance Minister Winston Dookeran said yesterday.
He said there was still the need to verify some of the bills contractors said were owed to them.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance in Port of Spain, he said partial payments had been made to contractors for projects they were involved in.
