State Minister for Finance and the Public Service Senator Arthur Williams has moved quickly to quell growing disquiet within the public sector over a $32 million payout to Members of Parliament in January for outstanding motor vehicle allowances.
On Tuesday, the Police Federation reacted angrily to the news, charging that the payment was a contradiction of the Government's claim of an "inability to pay".
